At St. Alban's, we teach a French Curriculum from Year 3 to Year 6 using the 'La Jolie Ronde' scheme of work, inline with the expectations of The National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages .

Throughout the school year, theme days enable the children from Early Years and Key Stage One to also be introduced to French learning and begin to lay the foundations for what they will learn throughout Key Stage Two.

European Day of Languages

On Monday 30th September, we celebrated 'European Day of Languages' in school. All children took part, right from our youngest children in Nursery, up to our oldest children in Year 6. The children engaged in a range of French learning from songs to other oral activities, written work and computer-based learning on the theme of ' Who am I and where do I come from?' Children from Nursery to Year 4 focused on 'Who am I?' and learnt how to greet each other, to say their names and how they were feeling. In Years 5 and 6. the children focused on 'Where do I come from?' and developed language they may use in the classroom. A great day was had by all and it was such a joy to hear children throughout school speaking French!
