Brilliant Club

The Brilliant Club is an exciting opportunity for our children to stretch their academic abilities and explore subjects in greater depth. Through this club, children are introduced to university-style learning, tackling challenging topics beyond the standard curriculum. They work with expert tutors to engage in critical thinking, research, and discussions, helping them to develop essential skills for future academic success. The Brilliant Club encourages curiosity, creativity, and perseverance, inspiring our children to aim high and realise their full potential. It’s a fantastic way to ignite a passion for learning and prepare for the academic challenges ahead.
Our 2024/25 Cohort
In the Autumn term, 14 children from Y5 and 6 began a philosophy programme where they studied the question 'What is Fairness?'
Their PhD tutor guided them through various case studies involving fairness, whilst at the same time, introducing them to study techniques, how to structure assignments and supporting them to consider life as a university student. At the end of their placement, the children submitted a 1000 word assignment based on the core question. Not only did all the children pass, but within the cohort, we had two firsts! Their tutor was extremely pleased and reported that he had never had a group with such consistently high scores! To celebrate their success, the children were invited to a graduation event at Leeds University where they received their special certificates. Not only did they graduate, but they were also able to talk to current students and tour the campus. It was an incredible day and we are so proud of them all for their amazing achievements!
