AFCL -Parent and Child Story Sacks Session 3
24.09.24
Today was all about reading with puppets! Story telling comes alive with the use of puppets, they can support with language development and can encourage children to have conversations with their puppet and create diologue.
Puppets are also great way to teach children about emotions, allowing them to share if they feel angry, sad, happy or excited.
This session was a fantasic way of introducing children to puppets as they created their own for their story sack!
AFCL -Parent and Child Story Sacks Session 2
17.09.24
This week parents looked at how reading can be made fun with the use of a story sack to support this - a multi-sensory approach to engaging children with reading skills and foster a love of life-long reading. This week children were able to select some books they wanted to add to their story sack for at home and design their sack.
Today each child designed their very own story sack bag the focus next week is to create their puppets!

We are delighted that our children were invited to be involved in this project.
'The children showed real interest and curiosity within the sessions, and asked questions which has reflected in their learning'.

Black History Month
November 2023
As part of our broad and balanced curriculum, children are taught about different societies, and how different groups have contributed to the development of Britain, including the voices and experience of Black people. At St Alban's, we teach our children to be responsible, respectful and active citizens who recognise that differences are interesting and positive and we learn about many cultures, races and religions. Â In our Catholic school, we teach our children that every human being is special, unique and a child of God. Â Most schools teach children about Black history month in October and at St Alban's we celebrate this rich and diverse history and culture in October too but learn about the positive impact of black history throughout the year across the curriculum. Â Enjoy taking a peek at what our children have enjoyed learning about recently! Â We are looking forward next to our Advent Adventures in Learning when we will look deeper into the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ but also find out more about Sikhism and Buddhism as religions, places of worship, holy objects, key celebrations and compare and contrast this to Christianity.
