Our new Selby class have enjoyed many events in these first few weeks of Autumn term and our 'Mission' topic! Here we are orienteering on our field of collieries completing a quiz on the historic local mines as part of our on-going Pit Sense project. Rievaulx's Y6s were a superb help!
What a magical end to our summer term! Selby have been working hard on the PitSense project, learning all about Brodsworth Colliery. We have learned about where it is, when it opened and when it closed. We created a board in the style of a National Coal mining board about Brodsworth, plus some Lowry inspired art!
Selby performed a magical assembly taking all of us on a journey through history. They taught us about Rosa Parks, Jamaica, Emily Davison and explorers like Amelia Earhart!
Super Selby investigated the changing shapes of different materials. They recorded their observations and made decisions about which materials can be bent, twisted, squashed and stretched!
