St Alban's School Council members have been extremely busy since taking up their posts in September 2018.  Our 12 Key Stage children were elected democratically as council representatives from Whitby, Fountains, Kirkstall and Rievaulx classes.  They have already improved our House Point rewards system ensuring that the team with most Albans  (House Points) each week are rewarded with a longer playtime!!!  Every Friday lunchtime, House Captains collect the Albans earned in each class by each team member and some weeks it really has been a tight race!  At the end of the Autumn Term, St George's were the winning team with most Albans earned over the tem and enjoyed a cinema afternoon with popcorn, treats and juice!  It is another close one this term... let's see which team is most passionate about their learning and go the extra mile to earn most Albans before Easter....

The School Council has carried out other successful work, such as interviewing parents and getting feedback about our open day events.  The council informed school leaders that the parents thoroughly enjoyed their morning in class in the first half of the Autumn Term, so we had another open morning during December, developing our DT skills making Christmas decorations during Advent in preparation for Christmas!  It certainly was the, 'Season to be jolly!' with some memorable moments during our Moments topic.

Their next project, led by the Councillors themselves, is something they are passionate about.  They are currently working on leaflets to remind other children, parents and staff about what is needed to be ready for learning at St Alban's... They have high expectations and want everyone at St Alban's to be prepared for learning in every way, and be part of our family team, so that each and every one of us can do our very best!  Watch this space...the leaflets will be out soon!  In our term of 'Passion', the councillors are demonstrating their love for all the children at St Alban's!

A selection of our councillors have been chosen to talk to Doncaster Council about the Curriculum at St Alban's.  The videographers were amazed at what our children told them St Alban's has to offer from science investigations to cooking club, from making film trailers to football club, from writing and performing to Lego club and from challenging maths to creative artwork!  The film will be shown to Headteachers across Doncaster in order to promote the voice of our youngsters in Doncaster.  Watch this space for the video of our children sharing their thoughts!
