Year 5 -Kirkstall Class 2023 - 2024

Welcome to Kirkstall class with Miss Burge and Mrs Chapman. 

We have started the year with a bang! For our first immersion of the year we had a treasure hunt on the school grounds, using our four and six figure grid referene skills to link withour topic of explorers. We found lots of amazing items that we use in the modern world that was traded hundrereds of years ago!

Kirkstall have some really exciting topics this year. Here is a list of everything you will be learning during the Autumn term as Year 5s!

• Our class text: Street Child by Bertie Doherty.
• Our RE focus: Ourselves, life choices and hope.
• Our maths learning includes: Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
• History expedition: Explorers.
• Geography expedition: Maps.
• Science expedition: Space and Materials.
