Summer walks - As you spend time outside this summer, take your family on a walk to complete a plant investigation. 

Complete two walks, in different places, and use the classification and plant identification sheets below to help you compare and contrast the two areas. Please bring your findings in September so we can share the plants and flowers you were able to find.

Hello and Welcome to Kirkstall 20/21!

Here you'll find some transition activities that we'd love you to complete and bring back to school in September.

 

1. We know that children's prayers are the most powerful so we'd like you to write a special prayer using the task below.  Bring the prayer back to school so that we can display it on our R.E display.

4. Practise your times tables on TTRockstars.  Can you improve your rock status?  

Complete a studio time challenge. Record you score and your seconds per question. Your challenge is to improve the number correct and decrease your seconds per question before you come back to school in September. Try playing at least 3 times per week to give yourself the best chance of improving your scores 

 5. In Kirkstall, we love to play Countdown.  Use the version of the game below, to start practising now.

6. Go for two different walks with your family.  Try to choose two places that are quite different from each other. 

Observe and compare the physical and human features of both places and if you can, take some photos  or videos of these features. 

When you get home, find a way to present what you have observed.  You might make a PowerPoint, a booklet, display and label your photographs, create a video or choose a completely different way to compare the similarities and differences between the features of these two places. 

Rievaulx (children in Year 5 who are moving into Year 6 in September 2020)

Hello and welcome to the start of Rievaulx 20-21! Below you will find different transition activities that you need to complete and bring into school in September:

1. Write a letter to your future teacher explaining information about yourself. Make sure you include key features you have learnt in writing and that your handwriting is your very best! Here are some sentence prompts that you can use to help you.

5. Go for two different walks with your family and observe different physical and human features in two different areas. When you get home, create two aerial view maps that include symbols and an Ordnance Survey key. Compare the maps that you have created. What are the similarities and differences about the two maps?
